• “Hwadamchae is a cultural complex that presents the philosophy and stories of Hwadam Botanic Garden from a new angle.”

  Covering an area of approximately 1,750 square meters, it consists of the Media Art Center annex (byeolchae), the Main Building (bonchae), the Object Stairs elegantly bringing together the terrain's elevation differences, the Courtyard, and the Rooftop Garden.

  The journey begins at the ticket office and leads up the Object Stairs, where one can enjoy a transitional space with views of pines along the hills, before reaching the Media Art Center. After enjoying the media art on exhibition, visitors can enter the Main Building to view artworks and the Rooftop Garden, followed by entry into Hwadam Botanic Garden proper.

• Courtyard

  In the Courtyard, connecting the Media Art Center and Main Building, visitors will be greeted by a stunning art piece by Choi Byung Hoon, a master of art furniture. Artwork Title: Water Meditation, 2023

• Annex

  The Media Art Center, approximately 450 square meters in area with a 7-meter-high ceiling for an immersive experience, will feature two media art pieces as opening exhibits.

• Main Bldg.

  The Main Building houses four exhibition halls, including the Main Hall. The multipurpose Storage area is planned for exhibitions and various programs. The design of the layout allows for easy movement through the Lounge, down the stairs toward each art exhibition hall, and then to the Rooftop Garden.

• Infinity puul
  (Rooftop Garden)

  After visiting all exhibition halls in the Main Building, the Rooftop Garden unveils a signature space unique to Hwadam Botanic Garden, where a monospecific plant mass seemingly extends infinitely.

  Beyond this, visitors will find another signature space, the Infinity Puul (Korean for “greenery”), offering expansive views of Hwadam Botanic Garden and the nearby Konjiam Resort area. The journey through Hwadamchae concludes with the Rooftop Garden, marking the beginning of the true Hwadam Botanic Garden experience.
